Topic: Judicial Review Part 1”
In this seminar given by Baldip, attendees will be guided through the theoretical and practical aspects of Judicial Review. He will be answering questions such as: What is a Judicial Review? When to use it, heads of challenge, identifying the appropriate heads of challenge and the practical pitfalls made all too often by practitioners in this jurisdiction.
Baldip Singh is an experienced human rights practitioner with a wide ranging practice based around family law, immigration law and international law. He has significant experience in both private and public law matters.
Baldip is regularly instructed in significant cases involving family law that overlap with immigration issues.
Acting for Local Authorities, parents and children, Baldip has had extensive exposure to care proceedings involving children who have died whilst in the parents’ care, suffered from non-accidental head injuries, long term neglect, sexual abuse and factitious illness.
In respect of international children law, Baldip is a specialist on international relocation, child abduction and forced marriages.
Baldip is deputy head of the immigration law team. Baldip has a well established practice in immigration law, he represents clients at all levels of court and was instructed on the advocates panel in the Court of Justice of the European Union. He also has a strong Judicial Review practice.
Baldip enjoys the fast pace that immigration and public law work has to offer and has successfully represented clients with respect to emergency injunctive relief to stop removal via High Court applications. He has developed a specialty niche in making urgent applications out of hours when essential to prevent injustice.
Baldip has an increasingly international practice and has been instructed to assist in significant cases involving Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Libya and a number of countries in Asia including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Baldip worked in a leading immigration law firm that was involved in significant high profile cases. Baldip is heavily involved within his community raising awareness of domestic violence and other legal issues affecting ethnic minorities. Baldip has worked, volunteered and acted as a trainer for various organisations and provides training and seminars to solicitors, law centres and community groups. He has been an invited lecturer and given talks at prestigious universities in India and visited several Bar Associations in that country on such topics as 'The Importance of an Independent Judiciary' and 'Collecting Best Evidence'.
Baldip is fluent Punjabi and conversational Hindi and Urdu.
