Professor Ian Dennis is Professor of Law and Director of the Centre for Criminal Law at University College London (UCL), and Visiting Professor at the University of Sydney.
He was Called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1971 and undertook pupillage before taking up a Lectureship at UCL in 1973. He teaches and researches in criminal law and criminal evidence and procedure. He is the author of ‘The Law of Evidence’ (4th ed, London, Sweet & Maxwell, 2010) and numerous essays and journal articles. He was Editor of the Criminal Law Review from 1999 to 2011, and has acted as a Consultant to the Law Commission on the codification of criminal law in England and Wales and the reform of the law of homicide.
