Diana Constantinide barrister at 33 Bedford Row Chambers and Keeley Lengthorn the founder of George’s Law and Head of Public Law Children London at RWK Goodman are introducing the Miscarriage Leave Bill to the Republic of Cyprus. This bill aims to provide much-needed support for individuals and families affected by miscarriage, ensuring they receive proper care, recognition, and rights during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
A key feature of the bill is the 24-week threshold, which establishes that individuals who experience a miscarriage beyond 24 weeks will receive three days of paid leave — a crucial step toward offering legal recognition of the emotional and physical recovery process.
The Miscarriage Leave Bill intends to:
- Provide paid leave to those who experience a miscarriage, allowing time for healing and recovery.
- Recognise miscarriage as a significant loss, ensuring the same level of care and support as any other health condition.
- Raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding miscarriage, helping to create a more supportive environment for those affected.
