Simon Ridding has successfully secured permission for judicial review on all six grounds following an oral renewal hearing in the High Court, despite each ground having previously been refused on the papers.
Simon was instructed on a direct access basis by an individual who had been issued with a Community Protection Warning (CPW) by the police following a neighbour dispute.
The Claimant, who was acting as a litigant in person, challenged the decision to issue the CPW, the breadth of the warning, the failure to provide proper reconsideration and various human rights considerations.
Following the refusal of all six grounds on the papers, the Claimant sought an oral renewal hearing and instructed Simon to represent him. The Defendant opposed the renewal application and sought a finding that the claim was totally without merit.
Following oral submissions from both parties, the High Court granted permission for all six grounds to proceed to judicial review
