John has established a busy multidisciplinary practice and accepts instructions in family law, general civil law, inquests and inquiries. 

John is a persuasive advocate, who has developed his strong advocacy skills through his regular court appearances. He is particularly apt at dealing with vulnerable witnesses, having completed the vulnerable witness training course. John was awarded an advocacy scholarship for the Bar Course, along with a merit-based scholarship from the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.

John has developed a notable family law practice. He frequently appears in family courts across the country, specialising in private law children disputes and financial remedies. He is often instructed in cases of a particularly sensitive nature including cases involving allegations of rape and parental alienation. He is trusted by solicitors and lay clients alike and puts them at ease with his calm and reassuring demeanour. Clients frequently express their appreciation for John’s firm representation in court, and his continuous support outside of court and throughout the difficult process. 

Moreover, John is clear and precise both in his advice and written work. This is why he is the junior counsel of choice for many solicitors in various teams at the Government Legal Department. John has been instructed in the Inquest into the Death of an Officer Cadet at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he has interviewed some of the most senior members of the British Army, drafted witness statements, and advised on evidence. John has also been instructed in several high value personal injury and clinical negligence cases on behalf of Government bodies including the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Justice. 

John was also instructed by a leading city law firm on behalf of a Core Participant in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. He was involved in this high profile and sensitive case for approximately one year, during which time he drafted detailed written documents regarding the evidence in the Inquiry. 

Finally, John has trained with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and was instructed as external counsel in several cases. He has had a clear track record of success when acting on behalf of the NMC.

John has significant experience in personal injury claims in the context of road traffic accidents, and public, occupiers' and employers' liability. He is currently instructed in several multitrack and fast track cases, some of which involve complex issues of causation. John has a proven track record of success.

John also provides succinct and accurate advices, including advices on quantum and merits of the claim.

General civil/commercial

John regularly represents individuals and organisations in civil/commercial cases involving contractual disputes. He has acted in several specialist cases including commercial waste disposal contracts and international music record release disputes.

John  is frequently instructed to draft pleadings including particulars of claim, defences and replies. He has successfully made all manner of interim applications including applications to strike out, for relief from sanctions, and applications to set aside default judgment. 

Currently, John is being led in a significant High Court case, acting on behalf of a fashion industry leader in a claim worth in excess of £150 million.

John represents clients in a wide range of private Family Law and Children Act proceedings, and financial remedies proceedings. His clients appreciate his empathetic approach, assisting them through what is inevitably a very difficult process.

John has appeared in FHDRAs, DRAs, final hearings, ex-parte applications, return hearings, first appointments, first directions appointments and FDRs. 

Notably, John was instructed to represent the wife of a recently bankrupt international oil tycoon in financial remedies proceedings involving £100 million in assets.
