Olivia Beach, instructed by Chris Ofokansi at AB Mackenzie Solicitors, successfully secured a suspended sentence for a 19 year old male charged with two counts of robbery.

Mr S had robbed two very young victims of their mobile phones, including making a threat that he had a knife on his possession. He was due to start university in September 2023 and committed the crimes as a way to quickly make some money to support his family who have been struggling with the cost of living crisis and could not afford to keep the lights on at home. 

Olivia successfully argued that Mr S had realistic prospects of rehabilitation and that immediate custody, although in accordance with the relevant sentencing guidelines, would have a disproportionate detrimental impact on Mr S’s future prospects and would not be in the interests of justice in all of the circumstances.
