"I became a lawyer to represent the LGBTQIA+ community before same-sex marriage rights were enshirned in the UK. After civil partnerships were made legal in 2005, my husband Mark and I got hitched and we chose the peacock feather as our colour scheme for our wedding. In Hinduism, the peacock represents good luck and immortality, and we wanted to celebrate the feeling of invincibility that comes from being loved.
