Following a 3 week trial for attempted murder and Section 18 before a judge and jury, Mark McDonald's client received an acquittal. The trial involved complex issues regarding: (i) the exclusion of an unreliable confession obtained from a co-defendant in a police interview; (ii) joint enterprise; and (iii) the cross examination of vulnerable witnesses.

The primary issues for the jury were: (i) identification; and (ii) participation in a group (said to be a gang) attack on two victims.

Speaking of the acquittal, Billa Achuka of AB MacKenzie Solicitors said:

"This was an impressive result given the evidence in the case, Mark proves that with hard work and a forensic approach to the case the right outcome can be achieved."
