Mr Nigel Edwards KC Represented the Mother in a Two-Handed Causing or Allowing the Death of Five Month Old Baby Ava Collard in Stafford Crown Court

Mr Nigel NED Edwards KC - leading Andrew Baker of No5 Barristers Chambers and instructed by Tacheratt Hussain of East Midlands Solicitors - represented the mother in a two handed causing or allowing the death of five month old baby Ava Collard in Stafford Crown Court. 

After a very emotional six week trial, it was determined that the mother had in all the circumstances failed to protect her daughter sufficiently and she had thus allowed her death. 

The mother received 8 years and the father 11 years in custody. 

The BBC reports that "both were found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child, causing or allowing serious physical harm to a child and two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a child through assault, ill-treatment, neglect or abandonment." More can be read here
