Introduction

Introduction

Terence’s areas of expertise include contractual disputes, economic torts, personal injury, planning, debt recovery, shipping, shareholder disputes and breach of covenant.

In 2017 and 2018, he was instructed by the Government Legal Department as project manager of evidence in Kimathi and others v Foreign and Commonwealth Office [2018] EWHC 2066 (QB), otherwise known as the Kenyan Emergency Group Litigation. The group litigation arises from alleged abuses during the Mau Mau insurgency in the 1950s and encompasses claims for damages by over 40,000 Kenyans against the UK Government. He continues to assist in the management of evidence and preparation of test claimant closing submissions.

He has recently acted in the High Court (Queens Bench Division) for the successful defendant in the reported case of Sir David Barclay v Craig Tuck [2018] EWHC 1125 (QB). This civil contempt of court matter arose from an alleged failure to comply with court orders that directed the defendant to withdraw numerous web pages from the internet.

Terence is experienced in drafting and advising on a wide range of domestic and international commercial disputes. He has considerable advocacy experience in commercial property, road traffic accidents, personal injury and regulatory proceedings. He is able to provide consultancy and management services in large-scale litigation.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Terence worked as a mathematics consultant for technology start-up company. He was also invited to be a university guest lecturer for foundation law students and gave talks on the Bar and advocacy including debating skills, public speaking and essay writing.
