Maeve Thornton Secures Not Guilty Verdict at Oxford Crown Court

Maeve Thornton recently secured a not guilty verdict at Oxford Crown Court defending her client who was charged with Actual Bodily Harm.

The Injuries to the complainant were in variety including a dislodged tooth, fractured jaw and skull. The Defence in the case was that the resultant injuries were sustained from the victim falling due to intoxication as opposed to deliberate intentional assault.

Her client, who was vulnerable with recognised mental illness required the use of an Intermediary throughout the trial.

She successfully challenged investigative elements in the case and at the accounts of independent witnesses and her client successfully communicated the events of the night in question to the Jury.

The Jury returned a majority verdict of not guilty after a few hours of deliberations.
