Introduction

Andrea is regularly instructed in care proceedings for Parents, Children and Local Authorities. Having spent her earlier career gaining considerable experience in criminal practice and latterly with a focus on serious sexual offences and offences of violence and dishonesty involving vulnerable adult and child complainants, Andrea is particularly adept at dealing with cases that involve extensive cross examination of lay and expert witnesses to resolve significant factual disputes. Andrea has a particular interest in cases involving serious paediatric injury or allegations of significant sexual abuse. Andrea has considerable experience representing clients with longstanding and profound difficulties, including serious mental health problems and substance abuse issues, as well as the particularly vulnerable by reason of age or cognitive function. Andrea is a tenacious and proactive advocate, known for her down to earth and no-nonsense approach.

Andrea has experience in representing clients in private law proceedings in which they make or face allegations of violence, sexual offences or domestic abuse including controlling and coercive behaviour and proceedings that involve disputed matters relating to the arrangements for children. Andrea has particular experience in cases involving parental alienation.

Andrea additionally has an interest in Inquests and in particular those involving the deaths of children or vulnerable adults.

Andrea has represented prisoners in Judicial Review related to their treatment in custody or detention.
