Introduction

Elizabeth began her work in the area of family/child law in October 1991 qualifying as a Solicitor in January 1996.  Elizabeth subsequently focused her specialism in care and public law proceedings in her career as a solicitor.  She held a number of accreditations including Resolution and was a longstanding member of the Law Society Children Panel at the level of qualified child representative.

Elizabeth was regularly instructed by CAFCASS to represent the children but also represented parents, grandparents, foster carers, interveners and Local Authorities. 

Elizabeth has significant experience in representing vulnerable clients through the Official Solicitor and representing children who have separated from the allocated children’s guardian including those facing allegations within the case and cases involving child witnesses.

Elizabeth gained her higher rights of audience in 2012.

Elizabeth has considerable experience in cases involving complex issues including neglect, domestic violence, non-accidental injuries, sexual abuse, ritual/satanic abuse, incest, cases involving cultural issues including FGM, and fabricated and/or induced illness.

Prior to transferring to the bar Elizabeth ran her own practice as a sole practitioner.  She  successfully managed a busy practice from January 2008 until July 2021, throughout this time Elizabeth held a family contract with the legal Aid Agency and was given the Solicitors Quality Mark on repeat occasions which is awarded in recognition of excellence in legal practice.

Elizabeth undertook her own advocacy wherever possible which provided a seamless service to her clients enabling them to enjoy continuity of care and representation throughout their case.

Elizabeth is friendly, patient and down to earth and has a reputation for going the extra mile. She is known for her no-nonsense and robust approach without losing sensitivity and empathy. She has considerable experience in dealing with vulnerable clients including those with mental health difficulties, physical disabilities including experience of representing deaf clients, clients with learning difficulties and clients with drug and alcohol difficulties.  She has an empathetic approach providing clear and honest advice.

Elizabeth is a member of the Family Law Bar Association and the Association of Lawyers for Children.
