Introduction
Loretta is a dedicated and results-driven family law barrister specialising in private children and financial remedy proceedings. Of dual heritage and married with two children, Loretta brings a grounded understanding of diverse family dynamics and the emotional realities behind litigation. She combines professional rigour with empathy and insight, ensuring clients feel both supported and robustly represented.
Before specialising in family law, Loretta practised widely in civil litigation and operated a successful business, experience which enhances her commercial awareness and tactical judgement in financial disputes.
Practice
In children matters, Loretta acts in complex and high-conflict disputes, including multi-day fact-finding and final hearings involving allegations of domestic abuse, coercive control, and sexual abuse of both children and parents, as well as parental alienation. She has successfully both advanced and defended serious allegations and has appeared in the Family Court and the High Court, including acting in appeals arising from findings of fact and case-management decisions.
Loretta has extensive experience representing Rule 16.4 Guardians, including in fact-finding hearings, where her balanced and welfare-focused approach is complemented by firm, forensic advocacy. She advises and represents clients in applications concerning parental responsibility and child arrangements for same-sex couples and has experience in the complexities of dual-heritage child arrangements disputes. She has a successful track record of obtaining revocation of parental responsibility orders, no contact orders, forced marriage protection orders and lengthy Section 91(14) Children Act 1989 orders. Having completed Vulnerable Witness Training, Loretta is skilled in managing cases involving vulnerable parties and sensitive evidence with care and professionalism.
In financial remedy proceedings Loretta advises and appears in cases at all levels, from straightforward needs-based applications to high-conflict disputes involving non-disclosure, dissipation or concealment of assets, international property, and allegations of financial or litigation misconduct.
She is equally adept at negotiating settlements at FDR and delivering measured, persuasive advocacy at final hearing. Clients value her forensic analysis, commercial acumen, and pragmatic approach which together achieve fair and durable outcomes. Loretta’s meticulous preparation, incisive cross-examination, and tactical negotiation underpin her strong record of successful results across a broad range of financial cases.
