Teri is a specialist civil barrister with a background in defendant litigation. Prior to being called to the Bar, she spent over 10 years working in some of the largest Legal 500 law firms and a FTSE 100 insurance company representing Defendants and insurers in a wide range of claims.

She specialises in personal injury involving complex issues of causation, fraud and fundamental dishonesty. She has knowledge of a wide range of legal issues arising out of allegations of fraud and recently represented a direct access client in a very complex case of conspiracy and deceit.

Her experience includes claims arising out of road traffic accidents, employers liability, public liability and housing disrepair. She accepts instructions for written advice on prospects and/or quantum, drafting through to representation at trial. Teri also attends inquests on behalf of insurers and/or family members.

Teri has assisted in cases for the Attorney General as a junior junior including the COVID inquiry and a significant fraudulent misrepresentation case for the HMRC.

Teri’s background working for large insurer clients shines through in an effective, practical, and commercial consideration to cases. She has an active interest in commercial law and accepts public access clients.

Direct access instructions can vary from small businesses seeking assistance with enforcement of contracts or contract breaches to independent advice on liability and quantum in personal injury matters. Teri has direct access clients that instruct her for a wide range of their legal issues from property management to resolving financial issues they may be facing personally. 

She is often the first point of call for advice on the merits of a case prior to clients making the decision whether to proceed to litigation. Her commercial and pragmatic approach to claims often leaves clients with a resolution to their case in the most economical way.

Teri's practice in this area is growing rapidly with regular instructions in relation to all areas of contract law. She is regularly instructed in relation to breaches of contract whether that be disagreement as to charges, performance, shareholder disagreements or enforcement of personal guarantees. This includes assisting clients with injunctions, specific performance claims and non-disclosure agreements.

She is able to assist clients from small businesses and start ups to large internation clients.

Teri's extensive experience in this area has seen her instructed on a large number of cases in respect of consumer rights. This ranges from experience in undisclosed commission claims, unfair contract terms, breaches of statutory regulations and unfair contract terms. She has specific experience in Plevin claims, PCP vehicle finance and small business energy mis-selling and fraud.

Teri has experience in all areas of contentious and non-contentious property and private client matters. She has received instructions from beneficiaries and other interested parties. 

She is able to accept instructions in relation to Court of Protection matters relating to property, family affairs and concerns raised regarding health and welfare.

Her experience in personal injury matters is of particular assistance when dealing with capacity concerns, fatalities and catastrophic personal injury claims.

Teri is experienced in defending and issuing applications to set aside statutory demands. She is able to advise on alternative methods of enforcement and resolution.
